A person dedicated their whole life to studying a particular forest. They could tell you the scientific name of every plant and tiny creature that inhabited the area. They knew the pH level of the soil and water, and could easily answer any questions about the topography you had. They had a magnificent wealth of valuable knowledge of the forest!
Another person found this same forest very precious as well, and spent many hours laying in the grass, watching the squirrels come and go. They found joy in the song of each bird, had conversations with the tress and took comfort in the wind. They could hear music in the sound of the water. They had a magnificent wealth of valuable knowledge of the forest!
The license plate I put on my first classic car, and a phrase very meaningful to me. Desires and wanting and goals are wonderful; but we often think we must have [the dream house] before we can [host family and friends in style] in order to [feel successful and happy]. Insert anything you want in those brackets - wealth, more time, a nicer boss, those Louboutins’ - the equation remains the same. We think we must Have, in order to Do, so we can Be. This can sometimes feel daunting, focusing us on lack, and creating shortage consciousness within us. What if we just reversed this approach to life? If I appreciate the things I like about this house then I begin to feel better… which makes me more at ease and hopeful… which filters into the way I go about doing things in my day, and when my actions are lined up with good feelings hard stuff becomes effortless and so I accomplish more… which feels awesome and snowballs, and so now I’m feeling successful and happy (Look at that!)… so, I decide to call up friends and family for a cozy and fantastic floor picnic where we laugh about me not having a dining table and we dream up what the big family farm will look like! Now that sounds fun; and chances are if we all lived with that kind of energy, we could all attract, create, build, and have anything we desire! Be, then Do, and you will discover you Have everything you need.
